An ode to Greek cats

The day has come where I pay tribute to cats, the true owners of the internet, a fact well known. And not just any cats, but the sweetest cohort of feline workers in the Greek hospitality industry. Sea, sunshine, summer farniente, history, traditions: they know what the tired traveller is looking for and can gently accompany their quest.

They asked me to give no names, but have agreed to have a selection of photos posted here, for the benefit of those who could not travel this summer.

  1. Chasing mice
    And muses
    Amuses me

    The soft angles
    The furry geometry

    No, wait
    That sounds wrong
    I didn’t mean
    Any double entendre

    Still
    Can you blame a cat
    For being chatty

    For trying to be

    A cool cat
    A heroic cat
    A homeric cat
    A handful of notes
    Of jazz scat

    Sing to me O Muse

    La nuit
    Tout les chats sont gris

    Or rather wine-coloured
    Like the sea
    And your eyes
